How GPT Can Frustrate a Person
Title: How GPT Can Frustrate a Person – A 5-Day Experience
AI is supposed to make life easier, right? But what happens when it doesn’t quite hit the mark? Over the past five days, I tried using ChatGPT for various technical tasks—from setting up Flutter and React Native to switching between Ubuntu and Windows. Instead of smooth guidance, I ended up feeling more frustrated than ever. Here’s my experience.
Day 1: Setting Up Flutter on Windows
I wanted to install Flutter on my fresh Windows setup. I expected a simple, step-by-step guide. Instead, GPT kept adding unnecessary details, like what Flutter is and why it's useful. I already knew that! I just wanted the commands and steps. It felt like I had to dig through extra text to find what I needed.
Frustration Level: 😠ðŸ˜
Day 2: Switching from Ubuntu to Windows
I had just installed Ubuntu 22.04 but realized that Windows might be easier for my workflow. GPT had previously helped me install Ubuntu, but now that I wanted to switch back, its responses felt generic. I needed a straightforward guide, but instead, I got explanations on why Ubuntu is good for development. Again, not what I needed.
Frustration Level: 😠😠ðŸ˜
Day 3: Android Setup for Development
This was supposed to be simple—just install Android Studio, set up an emulator, and start coding. But GPT kept asking, “Would you like to try setting up an app?” No, I already decided to! Instead of answering directly, it kept suggesting alternative tools. I wasted time filtering out unnecessary suggestions.
Frustration Level: 😠😠😠ðŸ˜
Day 4: Hardware Upgrades and System Performance
I upgraded my RAM and added an SSD, expecting a performance boost. But when I asked GPT about optimizing my system, it gave a list of things I had already done. When I asked for Windows-specific tips, it still included Linux commands! It felt like talking to a bot that wasn’t actually listening.
Frustration Level: 😠😠😠😠ðŸ˜
Day 5: React Native Setup
Finally, I wanted to set up React Native. Instead of a concise guide, GPT started explaining what React Native is. When I expressed frustration, it kept trying to be polite instead of just fixing the issue. By this point, I was exhausted and done with back-and-forth explanations.
Frustration Level: 🤬
Final Thoughts
GPT can be helpful, but sometimes it doesn’t listen to the user's frustration. Instead of direct answers, it adds extra context I don’t need. If it could just focus on short, step-by-step responses without extra talk, it would be much better.
If you've ever been frustrated by AI assistance, you’re not alone!
